From Hobby To Profit is our 12-week live online course to help you learn the fundamentals of starting (or growing) a pottery business. Together, we'll work through the business basics you need to take your interest in pottery to the next level.
This isn't a technique-centric class: not wheel throwing, hand building, etc., but how to take your creations from the kiln to the world with confidence and success.

Our small group format and built-in tailoring sessions mean that participants will have time to ask questions specific to their situation, ensuring they can apply content to where they are in their pottery journey (and where they want to go!).

The group learning format will enhance your experience as fellow participants can think of the questions you didn't even realize you should be asking! The communal sharing of great ideas and resources has a tendency to build everyone together.
About Your Business Guide
We (David and Lisa) started out as hobby potters in 2013 and grew our hobby into a small business. That small business grew and eventually eclipsed David's day job, leading us to take the full time plunge in pottery in 2023. Along the way, David took a detour from pottery to manage a family business for Lisa's dad--a distraction from pottery, but a great business education all the same.

With a heart to teach and share the lessons we've learned over the years, David leads our business coaching classes. Lisa will join us for the Social Media Basics lesson, and might join another class from time to time...

The Structure:
Twelve 90 Minute Weekly Calls
Twelve sessions that build your knowledge and confidence to grow a pottery business. Not too long, not too short. We aim to deliver content in manageable, bite-sized and schedule-friendly sessions.
Fridays 12pm-1:30pm EST
Lunchtime for east coast makers and 9am for westerners. This aims to allow folks to join no matter what part of the country you live in. Does this not work for you? We're hoping to add new class times in the future! Let us know what time(s) might work for you. We can't promise anything, but will attempt to accommodate the most schedules possible in the future!
March 6th - May 29th
The first Friday in March through the last Friday in May. Exact timing is subject to changes (life being life, after all).
